Therapy For Persistent Pain
Persistent Pain.
Pain that isn’t just in your head.
Pain that can’t be thought away.
Pain that seems hard wired into your brain.
Pain that’s just as real as epilepsy.
If you experience persistent, chronic or ongoing pain and have had prolonged periods of stress, anxiety or tension, your nervous system may be dysregulated. This means your mind and body have become stuck in a ‘survive and protect’ response.
Sadly, this response – though perfectly natural – could actually be intensifying and extending the pain and tension you feel. A prolonged protective response may have also rewired your brain to frequently feel pain at random times, rather than when there is acute injury or disease. This is why it’s possible to continue feeling pain if an injury has healed or even if there was no injury in the first place.
Because our mind, nervous system and physical body are so closely connected, a healthy and well-regulated nervous system is key to finding freedom from persistent pain.
